# OT Automation Engineer (Medical Devices) – Blackpool, UK
Réalta Technologies are seeking an experienced and highly-skilled OT Automation Engineer to support a Medical Device client based in Blackpool, UK.
About the Role
The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, with expertise in manufacturing equipment, PLC programming (preferably Allen Bradley), and IT systems. This role requires a technical leader who can manage a small team while ensuring seamless integration of automation systems with higher-level plant systems like MES and PI.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee automation projects from concept through to completion
- Design, program, and maintain PLC and SCADA systems, with a preference for Allen Bradley
- Ensure seamless integration of automation systems with MES, PI, and other higher-level plant systems
- Troubleshoot and optimize manufacturing equipment for improved efficiency, reliability, and performance
- Provide technical leadership and manage a small team of automation engineers
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system performance and reliability
- Maintain and improve IT infrastructure related to automation, ensuring robust networking and cybersecurity
- Support the implementation of Industry 4.0 initiatives
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including user manuals and system architecture
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards

Job Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in automation engineering, preferably within a manufacturing environment
- Strong knowledge of PLC and SCADA programming (preferably Allen Bradley)
- Experience with a range of manufacturing equipment and industrial automation systems
- Proficiency in IT systems and networking, with awareness of cybersecurity
- Experience integrating automation systems with MES, PI, or other higher-level plant systems
- Minimum 1-2 years of leadership experience, managing a small team
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
