OT SCADA Engineer

About the Role

At Bristol Water, we’ve been serving families since 1846, ensuring safe access to water while driving progress towards a greener future—planting 300,000 trees, restoring peatlands, and improving water quality. As part of Pennon Group, we’re building opportunities for your career growth.

Come join as OT SCADA Engineer, playing a critical role in designing, configuring, and maintaining SCADA, PLC, and telemetry systems that underpin essential water services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, configure, commission, and support SCADA systems, including alarms, data handling, trending, archiving, and visualisation (on new and legacy platforms).
  • Integrate PLCs, RTUs, and field instrumentation using Modbus, OPC, or Ethernet/IP protocols.
  • Configure and commission telemetry systems (radio, cellular, satellite) for remote and unmanned sites.
  • Deliver HMI configurations, ensuring usability and alignment with operational standards.
  • Manage OT network infrastructure, including Ethernet, serial, and fieldbus, with fault diagnostics using industry tools.
  • Support SCADA platform servers (Windows & Linux) in build, configuration, hardening, and lifecycle support.
  • Lead OT projects under scope, schedule, and budget, adhering to regulatory and governance standards.
  • Troubleshoot operational issues with fault diagnosis, root cause analysis, and follow-up actions.
  • Develop PLC software, monitoring, and fault-finding support for operational teams.
  • Apply OT technical standards, cyber-security controls, and health & safety regulations.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
