OT Solutions Architect

OT Solutions Architect – Energy, Public & Finance Sectors (Sword)

At Sword, we lead the charge in delivering transformational business technology solutions for critical sectors like Energy, Public, and Finance. By leveraging proven technology, specialist teams, and domain expertise, we build resilient foundations in platforms, data, and business applications. Our mission is to use technology to solve complex business problems in alignment with our clients’ goals.

About the Role

As an OT Solutions Architect, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and implementing secure, scalable Operational Technology (OT) solutions that underpin some of the UK’s most significant critical national infrastructure programs.

Working within our Industrial Automation & Control Systems practice, you’ll partner with engineering, cybersecurity, and client teams to define end-to-end OT architectures across key technology domains, including:

  • Security & governed access
  • Networking & connectivity
  • Hybrid hosting & cloud integration
  • IT/OT convergence

This is a senior, client-facing role requiring leadership across multiple programmes. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with business stakeholders, technical specialists, and delivery teams to shape requirements.
  • Balancing strategic architectural vision with hands-on programming execution.
  • Ensuring solutions are secure, resilient, supportable, and aligned with enterprise standards—while meeting live OT demands.

Key Responsibilities

As the OT Solutions Architect, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end OT solution architecture across high-value projects and programmes.
  • Translate business requirements into secure, scalable, and technically sound designs.
  • Design architectures in infrastructure, security, networking, and hybrid environments, including IT/OT integration.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality solution designs, technical specifications, and architecture diagrams for non-technical and technical audiences.
  • Compliance with enterprise architecture principles, industry standards, and operational requirements.
  • Lead technical design reviews and provide guidance during implementation.
  • Evaluate technologies, platforms, and suppliers to support programme objectives.
  • Engage in procurement activities, defining technical requirements and assessing supplier proposals.
  • Collaborate with engineering, cybersecurity, and infrastructure teams to resolve implementation challenges.
  • Contribute to architecture governance, frameworks, and best practices within the Industrial Automation & Control Systems (IACS) practice.
  • Balance strategic roadmaps with immediate business needs, fostering long-term OT capability growth.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
