Outdoor Education Instructor

Department: Operations

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Hindleap Warren

Reporting To: Chief Instructor

Compensation: £29,375 / year

Description

We are committed to providing top-quality outdoor learning experiences to our visitors and all staff play an active part in achieving that aim.

We are looking for someone who will be able to deliver these high-quality sessions to the wide variety of groups that visit our centre each year. In addition to this, the role involves some other duties required to operate the centre.

What you will be doing

Instructional work with clients

  • Deliver activity sessions where trained and competent.
  • Operate all activities according to Centre Operating Procedures and appropriate National Governing Body qualifications.
  • Be a good role model.
  • Committed to the delivery of key session outcomes.
  • Once trained - maintain activity equipment in good order, complying with Centre policy and best practice within the industry.

Duty Instructor role

  • Supervise residential groups in mealtime cleaning duties.
  • Run the tuck shop as required.
  • Maintain an overnight onsite presence (special accommodation provided) for customer service and in case of emergency.
  • Some cleaning duties.

What you bring to the role

Knowledge, Experience & Skills

  • Previous experience and continued motivation for working with young people.
  • An understanding of the importance of quality customer service and experience.
  • An understanding of the value of outdoor education.
  • Previous experience of working in outdoor centres.
  • Experience of working with a range of different young people with different backgrounds and needs.

Qualifications

  • First Aid Qualification
  • Paddlesport Qualification (e.g. Paddlesport Instructor or higher)
  • Climbing / High Ropes Qualification (e.g. Climbing Wall Instructor, Traditional ERCA or higher)
  • Archery GB Instructor
