Outdoor Plants Supervisor - Stewarts Christchurch

Are you passionate about outdoor plants, confident in your knowledge, and ready to take the next step into a leadership role?

Look no further! We’re looking for a hands-on Outdoor Plants Supervisor to join our team!

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone ready to make their mark: if you’ve got solid plant knowledge, love working outdoors, and are looking to build your leadership skills, this could be your moment.

Working at the heart of our Christchurch garden centre, you’ll support the team while taking real ownership of the outdoor plant area—making sure plants are healthy, well presented, and that every customer leaves with the right advice and inspiration for their garden.

About The Role

Key responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of plant care across the outdoor area, ensuring high standards of watering, feeding, pruning, and general maintenance
  • Maintain excellent plant health and quality, proactively managing pests, disease, and seasonal challenges
  • Be a go-to expert for customers—offering advice, answering queries, and making confident plant recommendations
  • Create attractive, seasonal displays that inspire customers and drive sales
  • Support and guide the team in maintaining strong plant care routines and presentation standards
  • Ensure all plant deliveries are checked, processed, and cared for correctly
  • Monitor stock levels and highlight gaps or opportunities based on seasonal demands
  • Uphold high standards of housekeeping, safety, and organisation within the Department
  • Support stocktakes and maintain accurate plant records
  • Communicate any plant care issues or stock concerns promptly
  • Support peak seasons and key trading periods
  • Assist with ordering
  • Step into Duty Manager responsibilities and act as a key holder when required

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
