An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part-time General Assistant to join the team in our newest Outlet, in Telford.

This is a physically-demanding role, to assist with our deliveries. The rota may include weekend and bank holiday working.

As a General Assistant you will be required to assemble and disassemble our beautiful furniture to assist in displaying this within the showroom. You will also assist in the general day to day running of the retail outlet. Assisting all departments where required, from intake of stock, warehouse duties, to customer services and selling.

You will achieve this by being engaging and highly passionate about our brand, products and the services we provide. Having energy, self-motivation, great communication skills and an interest in talking to our customers. We would want you to possess a professional yet personable attitude, and able to excel when working individually, towards set objectives and goals, as well as working well as part of our team to meet collective targets.

So, what will I be doing?

Key elements of the role will include:

  • Processing intake & outtake of stock accurately.
  • Assist with assembling and replenishment of stock onto sales floor.
  • Providing a friendly, helpful and personalised customer experience by being knowledgeable about products and interested in furnishings
  • Driving profitable sales through strong product knowledge, effective selling techniques
  • Delivering/exceeding all agreed targets
  • Ensuring the Outlet is merchandised in accordance with the agreed layout plan and always presented to a high standard, including cleaning and housekeeping
  • Implementing and ending sales promotions and displays within defined timeframes
  • Spotting, monitoring and reporting stock discrepancies to ensure the stock holding is correct
  • Complying with all The Cotswold Company policies and procedures
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to the needs of the Outlet
  • Processing customer sales and payments

Qualifications, skills and experience - Essential:

  • Love talking to our customers, a genuine interest in people
  • A genuine interest in furnishing and design
  • Energetic and self-motivated
  • A good general awareness of Health & Safety
  • Manual Handling training
  • Comfortable with lifting and assembling / dissembling furniture
  • Good general computer skills including a working knowledge of excel, word, outlook etc

Whilst not essential, these would be great too:

  • Exceptional customer service skills gained from being in a previous Customer Service role
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • A drive to smash targets with proven sales experience
  • Manages challenging situations in a calm and appropriate manner
  • Experience of working within a retail furniture environment
