Outpatients Clerk/Hospital Receptionist Apprentice
We are looking for an Outpatients Clerk/Hospital Receptionist Apprentice to provide a timely, accurate, and responsive service to the Medical Records/Outpatients Department and Hospital Reception at the Yeatman Hospital in Sherborne.
The role requires excellent interpersonal and IT skills, as it involves managing multiple patient administration systems and constantcontact with the public.
Experience Requirements
- Previous experience in Medical Records and Outpatient systems is advantageous but not essential—full training will be provided.
- The successful applicant will undergo a DBS check (routine for patient-facing roles).
Employment Details
- Full-time position (37.5 hours per week, five days, between 09:00–17:00).
- Flexibility essential to cover duties between 08:30–17:00 as required.
- Apprenticeship study time will be offered where possible, based on service needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Cover the Main Reception desk, making and changing patient appointments and outcoming clinics.
- Maintain office supplies via e-procurement systems.
- Handle patient enquiries (in-person and by telephone).
- Process clinic change notifications as directed by line managers.
- Assist the team by sharing skills and knowledge to maintain best practices.

- Effective immediately, we no longer accept DBS Update Service submissions as part of pre-employment checks.

- Once processed, DBS costs will be covered, and the applicant may later add the new check to an existing subscription.
