Job Title: Outreach Support Worker

Salary

  • Starting pay at £13.50 per hour during weekdays
  • £15.56 per hour during weekends
  • Additional £60 for a sleep shift

About Us

At Prosperity Children’s Services we provide care for vulnerable children and young people across the Lancashire and Greater Manchester area. Our children and young people receive support from a small team of incredible Registered Managers and Support Workers who strive to engage, motivate, and instill confidence and life skills aiming for the best possible outcomes for them.

Your Key Responsibilities

The role of an Outreach Support Worker can vary in different responsibility and locations, for example you could be bed watching in a hospital to Secure transport or even supporting children and young people in their own homes.

As an Outreach Support Worker, you may be called upon at short notice to support a child in need, so flexibility is key.

We will train and develop you so you can deliver our therapeutic model to support and care for the children in the best possible way.

  • Have experience of working with children and young people with challenging behaviors including mental health and behavioral problems
  • Be able to work weekdays, evenings, weekends and nights.
  • Work alongside other passionate and inspiring support workers and instill motivation to the young people.
  • Hold experience of looking after children with emotional, behavioral, or mental health conditions, as such you will need to be compassionate, calm, resilient and understand the issues and challenges children face.
  • Good communication skills are a must. You may be required to spend lengthy amounts of time with service users therefore the ability to communicate well is essential.
  • Good written and verbal skills. This role involves paperwork and liaising with local authorities. Record keeping and report writing as well as verbally reporting is essential.
  • The ability to problem-solve, de-escalate, and divert attention.

Essential Requirements

  • Full UK Driving License
  • You must undertake our Crisis prevention institute training. This training provides you with fundamental knowledge around understanding trauma, de-escalation techniques, communication skills and safety interventions, inclusive of restrictive holds. Due to the trauma and past experiences of the children we work with, it can sometimes be difficult for them to regulate their emotions and behavior, which can require the use of restrictive holds. As part of the role, you will be expected to carry out these safety interventions safely which can be physically demanding for extended periods of time.
