Application Deadline: 19 July 2026 Department: Outreach Location: Camborne, Pool & Redruth Compensation: £30,233 / year Interviews: Friday 24th July 2026
About This Role
As an Outreach Worker (Move-On Accommodation), you will support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness to transition from crisis into safe, stable accommodation and towards independent living. The successful candidate will be based primarily in Pool, working from a move-on accommodation setting and providing direct support to residents there.
As part of your duties, you’ll also deliver outreach support across Redruth, Pool, Camborne, and the surrounding areas, including:
- Locating and engaging with people sleeping rough, sofa-surfing, or at risk of homelessness.
- Building positive relationships while providing advice, guidance, and practical support for securing accommodation.
- Providing lone working in the community, requiring independent problem-solving, risk management, and adherence to lone-working protocols.
Flexibility is key—hours, location, and shifts may vary to meet organisational needs, including occasional coverage on weekends (approximately one in eight shifts) and evenings during peak periods.
While wellbeing, healthcare, and essential needs are focused, this role extends beyond housing:
- Supporting clients to access mental and physical healthcare.
- Aiding recovery from dependencies on alcohol or drugs via partnerships with relevant services.
- Helping access financial support and connecting with external agencies.
- Ensuring regular coverage at St Petrocs’ Truro Resource Centre and the Breadline Centre (Penzance) as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Move-On Residents (Pool Setting)
- Build professional relationships to empower residents toward independent housing, training, and employment.
- Assess and prioritise support needs, developing, implementing, and reviewing personalised safety and wellbeing plans.
- Oversee practical matters including benefits claims, permanent accommodation searches, and problem-solving homelessness triggers.
- Liaise with St Petrocs’ Homelessness Support Team and complete resettlement plans for clients moving out of crisis accommodation.
- Administer resident responsibilities, including charging arrangements, financial compliance, and maintaining cleanliness/security of the premises.
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment while ensuring adherence to Health & Safety regulations.
- Maintain confidential case notes, client records, and accident reports.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
