About the Role
As an Outreach Worker (Move-On Accommodation), you will support people experiencing or at risk of homelessness to transition from crisis into safe, stable accommodation and towards independent living.
The successful candidate will:
- Be based in Pool, working from a move-on accommodation setting while providing in-residence support to clients residing there.
- Provide Outreach support in Redruth, Pool, Camborne, and surrounding areas as required, including lone working in the community to engage with individuals sleeping rough, sofa-surfing, or at risk of homelessness.
- Build positive relationships and offer advice on accommodation, healthcare access, financial support, and connecting with relevant services.
The role involves lone working with flexibility in location, hours, and occasional evenings/weekends to cover busy periods and Winter Service emergencies.
Interviews take place on Friday 24th July 2026.
Flexible working arrangements (e.g., part-time) are possible—discuss requirements during interviews; no judgment.
Key Responsibilities
Client Support & Relationship Building
- Develop professional relationships with move-on residents to achieve long-term goals (e.g., employment, training, housing stability).
- Engage regularly with clients facing or escaping homelessness across Cornwall, offering personalised moving-on plans and ensuring they meet their basic needs (e.g., healthcare access, financial support, recovery from substance dependencies).

Advocacy & Outreach
- Assess and address your clients’ support needs, including:
- Benefits claims assistance.
- Employment/accommodation searching support.
- Mental/physical healthcare linkage (e.g., ‘Health for Homeless’ services, G.P. registration).
- Conflict resolution and liaising with external agencies (e.g., Homelessness Support Team).
- Ensure residents understand rights/responsibilities (e.g., accommodation charges, service policies).
- Foster a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in move-on accommodation settings.
Practical & Administrative Oversight
- Maintain Health & Safety compliance (including accident reporting, confidentiality, and security).
- Oversee move-on accommodation maintenance (e.g., household supplies, repairs).
- Manage case notes, client records, and finance systems efficiently.
- Act as a positive ambassador for St Petrocs at community events.
Developed Responsibilities
- Provide cover at Resource Centres (Truro/Breadline Centre in Penzance).
- Required to work:
- Regular weekdays (mon–fri).
- 1 weekend in 8 (flexible to demand).
- Occasional evenings (e.g., Winter Service).
