Placing customers at the centre of everything we do is precisely why this exciting new opportunity for an IT Software Engineer has arisen on an 18-month fixed term contract. As a business, we are committed to designing, developing, and launching low-code, small-footprint applications that enable quick, reliable, and accessible information capture for customers, colleagues and stakeholders alike. These solutions are engineered for easy maintenance and rapid value realisation.
You will be ensuring that there is a seamless integration of the technology from both front-end and back-end components with the aim to deliver a robust, scalable, and efficient solution which meets both our businesses requirements but also enhances the user experience.
Some of the Key accountabilities in this role are:
- Develop scalable web and mobile applications using the OutSystems low-code platform
- Collaborate with product owners, business analysts and end users to gather and refine requirements incorporated into technical designs
- Integrate solutions with office and ERP applications like M365, SAP
- Build APIs and reusable components to support secure, reliable data exchange with partners and regulatory systems
- Ensure all applications meet Severn Trent specific standards for performance, security, and compliance
- Document application architecture, configurations, and development workflows
- Troubleshoot and resolve bugs and production issues with urgency and precision

You'll be based at our Severn Trent Centre head office in Coventry. You’ll work within a project team of 13 dedicated people. With this being such a critical role, we’re looking for someone who can join us 37 hours a week, Monday to Friday, with three days at least in the office.

WHAT WE'ER LOOKING FOR
You’ll need to have experience of working in an Agile culture that includes joint team outcomes, empowerment, commitments, and drives collaborative process.
Having working software development experience and a proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions in a fast-paced environment is a must.
Proving your experience in both front-end and back-end hands-on development experience with OutSystems (Reactive Web, Traditional Web, or Mobile) using OutSystems Studio and Service Studio, is essential. Outsystems simplifies the app development process but understanding its low-code environment to proficiently use drag-and-drop features, widgets, and templates is a must.
You will have skills in creating, managing, and optimizing databases within the OutSystems environment.
Proficiency in REST/SOAP APIs, SQL Server or Oracle databases, and web technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript within Outsystems platform.

You will be proficient in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, along with UX design principles.
An OutSystems Associate or Professional certification is desirable. Knowledge of DevOps tools (Github, Azure DevOps), version control systems or container-based deployments will be an advantage.
