Overpayments Coordinator x2

Location: Swindon, Newport, or Stockton-on-Tees – flexible and hybrid working options

Band: C

Salary: £27,756 per annum

Contract: 6-month fixed-term with potential extension to 12 months


About the Role

This role sits within Payroll/Pensions Operations Services, focusing on overpayment recovery. The successful candidate will implement processes, systems, and controls to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely oversight of overpayment cases. They will assist in resolving queries while contributing to efficient recovery and reporting.


Key Responsibilities

Key duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Analyse and process overpayment cases in line with defined procedures and policies
  • Communicate with customers, stakeholders, and clients to provide overpayment and recovery plans
  • Respond to queries by delivering clear, accurate information and escalating complex issues
  • Investigate and resolve overpayment discrepancies within set processes
  • Maintain accurate records of cases, recovery actions, and outputs for reporting purposes
  • Collaborate with internal teams (Payroll, HR, Finance) to solve complex cases
  • Oversee recovery activities, ensuring compliance with policies, controls, and service standards
  • Contribute to data analysis and reporting, guaranteeing accuracy and completeness
  • Support continuous improvement of overpayment recovery processes and service delivery
  • Ensure data integrity and consistency across systems

Requirements

To apply for this role, you must have:

  • A fundamental understanding of overpayment recovery, payroll, or financial processes, including compliance requirements
  • Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to interpret and analyse data, along with clearly communicating findings across formats and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills, including handling queries and complaints
  • System experience (e.g., Excel, case management tools)
  • Strong organisation and attention to detail
  • A commitment to customer-centric excellence

Additional Information

Successful applicants may undergo Security Clearance (National Security Vetting). This requires:

  • The candidate to have lived in the UK for at least five years
