Q — Have you recently graduated from Oxford, Cambridge, or a Russell Group University and are looking to get into a career in Primary Teaching?

A fantastic Primary School in the Borough of Tower Hamlets is recruiting aspiring Primary Teachers to work as Primary Teaching Assistants from September 2026 on a full academic year (FT & LT) basis.

About the Role

The school fosters a warm, inclusive, and community-focused environment with a strong reputation for supporting pupils academically, socially, and emotionally.

You will receive full support from day one, gaining invaluable classroom experience across:

  • EYFS
  • KS1
  • KS2

Opportunities include:

  • Supporting pupils in lessons
  • Conducting 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Assisting in core areas such as Phonics, Reading, Writing, and Maths
  • Preparing for a career in primary teacher training by gaining hands-on, full-year experience

  • English & Literacy Teaching Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Role: Primary Teaching Assistant

  • Responsibilities:

    • Support pupils across EYFS, KS1, and KS2
    • Provide Phonics, Reading, Writing, and Maths interventions
    • Conduct 1:1 and small group work
    • Assist with General Teaching Assistant duties in class
    • Help stretch high-attaining pupils and support those below age-related expectations
    • Support pupils with SEN, including ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Speech & Language needs
    • Support EAL pupils where necessary
  • Location:

    • Borough of Tower Hamlets (London, UK)
  • Salary:

    • £110–£115 per day (full-time/long-term for full academic year)
  • Start Date: September 2026


PERSON SPECIFICATION

Essential Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of Oxford, Cambridge, or another Russell Group University
  • Degree preference: 1st Class or 2:1
  • Strong GCSE & A-Level performance
  • Aspiring Primary Teacher mindset
  • Exceptional literacy and numeracy skills
  • Confidence in working with young children (e.g., effective communication, engagement)
  • Genuine passion for education and child development
