Company Description LAB (UK) LIMITED is an independent, UKAS-accredited (0253, 0671) asbestos analytical company specializing in asbestos surveys and testing. The organization provides a full range of services including bulk identification, compliance testing, and asbestos registers to support safe building management. LAB (UK) LIMITED works with clients across sectors to ensure they meet regulatory requirements and manage asbestos-related risks effectively. The team focuses on technical accuracy, reliable reporting, and practical guidance. Applicants will be joining a specialist company with a strong reputation in asbestos analysis and consultancy. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site P402 Asbestos Surveyor role office is based in Basildon. The P402 Asbestos Surveyor will carry out a range of asbestos surveys (including management, refurbishment, and demolition surveys) in domestic, commercial, and industrial properties. Day-to-day responsibilities include planning and conducting site visits, collecting samples, accurately recording findings, and preparing clear, compliant survey reports. The role involves interpreting building plans, identifying asbestos-containing materials, and ensuring all work follows current legislation, guidance, and company procedures. The surveyor will liaise with clients on-site, explain findings as required, and work closely with the laboratory and compliance teams to deliver timely, high-quality outputs while maintaining strict health and safety standards. Qualifications Recognized asbestos surveying qualification (e.g., BOHS P402 or equivalent) and evidence of up-to-date knowledge of asbestos legislation, guidance, and best practice. Practical experience conducting management, refurbishment, and demolition asbestos surveys across a variety of property types, with strong understanding of building construction and materials. Proficiency in accurate data collection, use of handheld devices or survey software, and production of clear, well-structured technical reports. Strong awareness of health and safety, including safe working practices on-site, use of personal protective equipment, and risk assessment procedures. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work professionally with clients, colleagues, and contractors, and to represent the company positively on-site. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage workloads, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision. Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to client sites as required. Relevant industry experience in asbestos surveying or analytical work; experience within a UKAS-accredited environment is an advantage. Right to work in the UK; a satisfactory background or reference check may be required in line with client and regulatory expectations.
