Shape delivery on major water infrastructure programmes

Purpose And Scope Of The Role

Tetra Tech’s Water Consultancy is seeking a P6 Planner to join the Water Team in Warrington or Newcastle, supporting AMP8 and AMP9 frameworks across the UK. You will develop, maintain and monitor project programmes using Primavera P6 and Microsoft Project for technically demanding wastewater infrastructure work. Daily activities include creating detailed schedules, coordinating construction inputs, producing progress reports and analysing delays and compensation events.

Your Impact In This Position

You will immediately improve programme accuracy and visibility, enabling better decision-making on live projects. Over the medium term, you will lead schedule development for complex workstreams, support change control and cost forecasting, and influence mitigation strategies.

Core Capabilities

Primavera P6 expertise - Proficient in creating, updating and maintaining detailed schedules and resource/load profiles using Primavera P6. Project controls & reporting - Competent in earned value, cost forecasting, change control and presenting concise progress analysis for stakeholders. Construction sequencing & logic - Clear understanding of design, construction and commissioning sequences to define critical paths and assess the impact of delays. Stakeholder communication - Able to translate schedule data into actionable advice for project teams and clients and lead programme reviews. Data integrity & problem solving - Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and capability to identify trends, risks and mitigation measures.

Skills, Qualifications And Experience

Expected: bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline and a valid UK driving licence. Desirable: PMI‑SP, PSP or equivalent project/planning certification and prior water sector experience.

Work patterns & locations:

Hybrid role with regional base in Warrington or Newcastle; typically 2–3 days per week in the office. Flexible arrangements considered.
