Packaging Lead

Job Description Supervise and lead packaging department employees, including assessing training needs. Assembles cardboard boxes and crates, or select and prepare returnable containers as required for the parts to be packaged. Packages parts as required by part number, count, and any special instructions according to the part number, and packaging work order. Verifies and keeps records of parts packaged, going to the warehouse (finished goods). Make and affixes labels and any other identifying information that may be required on packaged containers. Place packaged parts onto pallets according to requirements and/or fill pallets to proper amounts by container size. Available to work shift overtime hours as assigned per customer requirements. Attention to details related to customer specific requirements. Inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of the packaging process. Has authority to stop production for related quality or machine issues. Must notify onsite supervisor. Maintain a safe and clean work environment by following 5S, safety, and environmental standards. Support safety functions by actively participating in safety training, safety meetings and following safety protocols Responsible for quality of part produced per the operator instructions. Know, understand, utilize and follow IATF 16949 and/or ISO 14001 procedures. Attention to details related to customer specific requirements. Support continual improvement initiatives and look for continuous improvement ideas. Supports and exemplifies corporate values and commitment to quality, optimism, ownership, teamwork, and communication. Other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Write movement tickets for each part packaged for inventory update. Maintain a partial parts sheet. Assist shipping with loading/unloading of trucks (when needed). EDUCATION High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Possession of a current and valid motor vehicle operator's license. Possession of a current and valid forklift license preferred but not required.
