THE ROLE

We are passionate about paper and committed to the future of our planet. We are world leaders in what we do, and we are currently on the look-out for an experienced Machine Operator within a production/manufacturing setting. This role sits at the very heart of our production line and manages all aspects of the end-to-end production of some of the UK’s best known tissue brands.

We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to develop and progress within the company. The ideal candidate will have the determination, drive, and willingness to learn, with the ambition to grow into a Team Leader role in the future. The successful candidate will work on our rostered 4 shift pattern working 2 days then 2 nights so you can get that all important work/life balance.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES / DUTIES

  • Maintain the continuous running of our packaging machines
  • Facilitate product change overs including the loading of polyethylene reels
  • Responsible for the effective running of the log saw as and when required
  • Interact with the machine to solve minor issues/breakdown leading to the enhanced productivity of the machines
  • Carry out quality checks on productions when required and report any faults to the respective person
  • Carry out small maintenance activities and adjustments
  • Support the colleagues in case of need and overview the end line process when required

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Be accountable for high levels of housekeeping of the working area throughout the shift
  • Strong awareness of health & safety requirements in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work safely around moving machinery and automated systems

Quality & Accountability

  • Ability to identify and report product defects or process deviations
  • Willingness to stop the line and escalate issues where standards are not met
  • High level of attention to detail and ownership of work
  • Understanding that accuracy of checks and records is critical

REQUIREMENTS

  • Previous manufacturing experience running automated packaging lines, desirable to have previous supervisory experience.
  • Ability to carry out machine set-ups, changeovers, and basic fault finding
  • Strong understanding of quality standards and in-process checks
  • Commitment to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and hygiene standards
  • Ability to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions accurately
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment
  • Excellent decision making abilities and the confidence to take on responsibilities.
  • Good level of numeracy and literacy (for recording checks, counts, and documentation)
  • Desire to progress and advance within the role

4 on 4 off Shift Pattern

  • 2 days - 0600-1800
  • 2 nights - 1800-0600
