Packaging Operator

Key Purpose Statement:

Working as a packaging line operator, you will be responsible for ensuring a high standard of quality is maintained in all aspects of Packaging at Griffin Brewery and that the finished product meets with the high expectations of our customer.

Key Accountabilities:

Safety

  • Responsible for your own safety and that of the team you work within.
  • Report any unsafe working practices to your Area Technician or Manager.
  • Ensure you raise an ALERT every week to improve your working environment.
  • Ensure you maintain and operate the forklift trucks safely and in accordance with company policy. Report any issues or damage to your Area Technician or Manager.

Quality

  • Ensure all product packaged at the brewery meets our quality standards set.
  • Escalate any quality issues to your Area Technician and Manager.
  • Understand and know all CCPs and OPRPs within your area.
  • Understand and follow the Jewellery and PPE requirements for your areas.
  • Understand and know the impact of our Food Quality Standard and ISO standards.
  • Understand and follow our Glass and Hard Plastic policy.

House Keeping and Hygiene

  • Ensure you understand our Food Safety requirements for the area you work within.
  • Ensure that you clean to standard as required in the areas that you work.
  • Ensure the area that you work in is well presented and safe.
  • Ensure you clean as you go.
  • Well presented, wearing correct clean Work Wear.

Maintenance and Line Knowledge

  • Have a good understanding of the line that you operate in, ensure you can operate the equipment required to fulfil your role, once training has been given.
  • Report any engineering issues to the Area Technician and then Manager. Ensure problems are reported on SAP.
  • FLT licence – You will be given the required training to drive an FLT.
  • Operator planned maintenance (OPM’S).
  • Autonomous maintenance (Training given).

Teamwork

  • Work as part of the team to ensure production plans are met along with safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure communication occurs from the operator through to Area Technician and manager.
  • Ensure the completion of the tasks outlined by the Area Technician or Team Leader.
  • Be flexible, working as a team to meet the needs of the business, including working longer shifts and weekends if required.

Efficiencies and Material Stock Control

  • Work on your own initiative to drive standards and the line efficiencies forward.
  • Stock control on materials associated with packaging, reporting any shortages and requirements and ensuring correct materials for correct SKU.

Other

  • Ensure you are aware and follow all company policies.

Experience & Competencies Required:

  • Practical, hands-on approach
  • Teamwork and working with other departments
  • Communication within the team and with Area Technicians and Team Leaders
  • Forklift truck experience
  • A good understanding of the area that you operate within.
  • Proactive, can-do attitude, willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Willingness to always do the right thing in terms of safety, quality, and production.
