An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 6 Paediatric Audiologist to join the NELFT Audiology Service.
Our friendly and supportive team provides a comprehensive paediatric audiology service for children and young people aged 0-19 years across North East London. We are committed to delivering high-quality, family-centred care, ensuring every child receives timely assessment, diagnosis and ongoing hearing support.
This role offers the opportunity to develop your specialist clinical skills while working alongside experienced Audiologists, Consultant Audiology Physicians and a wider multidisciplinary team. You will play an important role in delivering diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services, supporting service improvement and contributing to our journey towards IQIPS accreditation.

Main duties of the job
The Successful Post Holder Will
- Deliver high-quality paediatric audiology assessments and hearing aid services for children and young people aged 0-19 years.
- Independently manage a clinical caseload, including assessment, management planning, follow-up and discharge.
- Formulate individual management plans using evidence-based practice and family-centred care principles.
- Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, including medical staff, Teachers of the Deaf, Speech and Language Therapists and educational services.
- Support the department's continuous quality improvement programme, including the achievement and maintenance of IQIPS accreditation.
- Participate in clinical supervision, competency assessments and the training of junior staff and students.
- Contribute to clinical audit, research, service development and quality improvement initiatives.
- Maintain accurate clinical records using Trust and national patient management systems.
- Support safeguarding practices and work in accordance with Trust policies and professional standards.

Detailed Job Description And Main Responsibilities
As a Band 6 Paediatric Audiologist, you will provide specialist diagnostic and rehabilitative audiology services for children and young people aged 0-19 years. You will work independently whilst being fully supported by an experienced multidisciplinary team, delivering high-quality, evidence-based care in accordance with national standards including MCHAS, NHSP and British Society of Audiology guidelines.
You will be responsible for assessing hearing, fitting and managing hearing aids, developing individualised management plans and providing ongoing support to children, young people and their families. Excellent communication skills are essential, enabling you to explain complex clinical information in a sensitive and compassionate manner.
The post holder will work closely with Consultant Audiology Physicians, Audiologists, Teachers of the Deaf, Speech and Language Therapists, GPs, acute hospitals and other partner organisations to ensure coordinated, person-centred care.
Alongside your clinical responsibilities, you will actively contribute to the ongoing development of the Audiology Service. This includes participating in clinical audit, research, quality improvement projects and supporting the department's journey towards IQIPS accreditation. You will also provide supervision, mentorship and competency assessments for junior staff, students and trainees, promoting a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
The role requires strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise a varied clinical workload and a commitment to maintaining accurate electronic patient records using Trust systems including RiO, AuditBase, S4H and the National Spine.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop-in sessions focusing on engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Goodmayes Hospital.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement Outer London (B&D, Redbridge, Havering and Waltham Forest, Goodmayes)
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of £4,870 to a maximum of £6,137 p.a. pro rata for part time).
