An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced HCPC-registered Radiographer to join a specialist Paediatric Imaging service within one of the largest teaching hospitals in the South West.

This role is ideal for an experienced NHS radiographer looking to develop their career within paediatric and safeguarding imaging while taking on leadership, education and service development responsibilities.

Working within a modern imaging department, you'll support the delivery of high-quality paediatric imaging services while helping to lead a specialist team committed to clinical excellence, patient safety and continuous improvement.

The Role

As a Specialist Senior Radiographer, You Will

  • Deliver high-quality paediatric X-ray imaging services.
  • Support and deputise for the Paediatric Lead Radiographer.
  • Provide operational leadership across the Paediatric and Safeguarding Imaging service.
  • Perform specialist imaging examinations while ensuring excellent patient care and image quality.
  • Interpret clinical information to ensure the most appropriate imaging examination is performed.
  • Support safeguarding pathways and promote safe imaging practice.
  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement, clinical governance and service development initiatives.
  • Assist with equipment quality assurance and departmental standards.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams across imaging and wider clinical services.
  • Participate in a 7-day rota and provide support across multiple imaging sites where required.

Person Specific Requirements

Essential Applicants Must Have

  • Current HCPC registration.
  • BSc in Diagnostic Radiography (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrable post-graduate NHS experience as a General Radiographer.
  • Strong clinical knowledge of diagnostic radiography.
  • Experience across general X-ray imaging.
  • Knowledge of IRR and IR(ME)R radiation protection legislation.
  • Understanding of safeguarding within healthcare.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Experience supporting education, mentoring or supervision of learners.
  • Commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and clinical governance.
  • Ability to work flexibly across a 7-day service.

Desirable

  • Student assessor qualification.
  • Postgraduate qualification in a relevant specialist area (or willingness to undertake one).
  • Leadership qualification or leadership training.
  • Experience in paediatric imaging.
  • Experience leading service improvement projects.
  • Research and audit experience.
  • Experience conducting appraisals or supervising junior staff.
  • Knowledge of NHS policies and service development.
  • Strong presentation and teaching skills.
