Leicester Royal Infirmary Theatre Recovery are looking for a registered paediatric nurse to join our nursing team.

The Recovery area cares for both paediatric and adult patients in the immediate post operative period. Although the majority of your working hours will be within paediatrics there will be an expectation that you work in adult recovery at times as patient acuity demands. Full training will be given to enable you to work confidently within all recovery areas.

The role is varied as we care for patients from multiple specialities. We also have 3 outside recovery areas which allows further variety within your role therefore no 2 days will be the same.

Currently the majority of nurses rotating to our paediatric area are registered adult nurses with paediatric competencies. As a paediatric nurse once you have established your own skills and knowledge within the area we would be looking to the successful candidate to assist in creating paediatric training opportunities for our adult nurses to help and support them in gaining and completing their paediatric competencies.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
