PAID-INTERN

Job Type: Full-Time, 4-month internship starting from March 2025. The position may be converted into a full-time staff role based on the intern's performance.

Department: Research and Surveillance

Location: Kathmandu

Background

As a paid intern with our research team, the intern will have the opportunity to develop invaluable problem-solving skills, assist in high-impact research, and enhance analytical abilities as a team member.

Objective

This internship with PERC offers recent graduates an opportunity to gain practical experience and prepare for a career in research or higher education through:

  • Gaining hands-on experience in supporting various research activities under the guidance of the PERC team.
  • An opportunity to gain on-the-job experience, enhance knowledge, develop career goals, and expand a professional network.
  • Developing key skills, such as data management, data analysis, scientific writing, verbal communication, research methodology, and teamwork.
  • Personal development, including building self-confidence, assertiveness, and strong work habits.

Guidance and supervision

The paid intern will work under the overall supervision of the Program Manager, Research Specialist, and Research Coordinator.

Description of Duties

The Paid Intern is expected to:

  • Participate in research-related capacity-building workshops, training sessions, and meetings.
  • Conduct literature reviews and assist in writing research reports, briefs, and publications.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, manuscripts, and other relevant documents.
  • Assist in translating and transcribing documents, including reports, formative assessments, screening tools, pre- and post-intervention tools, etc.
  • Support both primary and secondary qualitative and quantitative data collection for various research projects.
  • Review and provide feedback on study protocols, research tools, data management and analysis plans, and scientific manuscripts.
  • Support in quantitative and qualitative data management and analysis.
  • Assist in preparing proposals for research projects.
  • Support the Finance/Admin Officer in facilitating training and meetings.
  • Attend required meetings and write minutes, reporting to the Program Manager.
  • Perform any other research, administrative, or logistical tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience: Previous experience in research or voluntary work in related areas will be an advantage.
  • Education: A completed bachelor’s degree in Public Health or a related field.
  • Languages: Proficiency in English and Nepali, with the ability to draft documents effectively.
