About us…
smol is on a mission to change the face of consumer brands and businesses by bringing super effective, eco-friendly products at value for money prices. We believe everyone should be able to make easy swaps that are better for them, the planet, and their pockets.
Since launch, smol has taken the household cleaning market by storm. We are already the fastest growing and most positively reviewed brand in the laundry, dishwash, fabric conditioner and surface spray categories and we’ve got so much more planned.
Having received Series B investment in 2021 and B Corp certification at the end of 2023, our team is focused on combining fast growth with being a force for positive change and impact in all that we do.
In Summary…
As a Paid Social Static Designer at smol, you will be responsible for designing high-performing static and graphic assets for our paid social channels - primarily Meta, but also TikTok and YouTube. You'll combine strong design craft with an understanding of what drives performance, and you'll be comfortable using AI image generation tools as part of your creative workflow. This is a role for someone who thinks like a marketer, just as much as a designer.
What does the role involve?
Static design
- Design high-impact and engaging static ads across a range of formats - single image, carousel, story, and banner
- Work across multiple products and campaign types simultaneously, maintaining quality and consistency throughout
- Deliver assets in the correct specs and formats for each platform and placement
AI-assisted creative production
- Use AI image generation tools (such as NanoBanana or similar) as an active part of the design workflow - for ideation, asset creation, and rapid iteration
- Know when and how to use AI output effectively, and how to refine and art direct it to a production-ready standard
- Stay up to date in AI creative tooling and bring new capabilities to the team where relevant
Performance-led design thinking
- Design with the hook in mind - understanding that the first frame or visual needs to captivate before anything else
- Work closely with the Creative Strategist to translate briefs and strategic insights into visual concepts that are built to test
- Contribute to creative reviews with a clear perspective on what's working and why, not just how things look

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
