Job Title

About the Role
This position will require travel across multiple locations, so a driving license and access to a vehicle will be essential. The post holder will be based out of Audley village in Englefield Green but the position will include regular travel to other sites to support with major projects.
Audley Retirement Villages are set in idyllic locations where owners can retire in a peaceful but lavish setting. These villages consist of private residential homes with a management fee covering upkeep and access to on-site services. The villages also host external customers, and this role ensures a first-class, positive experience for both types of clients.
As the Painter and Decorator, you will maintain the aesthetic appeal and functionality of retirement villages across a designated area. Your work will enhance the living environment for owners while ensuring a welcoming atmosphere through painting and decorating tasks.

- Develop a detailed painting plan with the Facilities Manager, outlining required tasks, methods, and materials for a high-standard, long-lasting finish.
- Create and maintain a painting schedule, specifying work frequency and timings for each village area.
- Promptly identify and address decorative maintenance issues, including:
- Touch-ups.
- Repairs.
- Remediation of water damage or imperfections.
- Conduct regular inspections to ensure painted surfaces are in optimal condition.
- Be diplomatic and empathetic when dealing with Owners (both within the village and their private homes).
- Manage an inventory of painting supplies, equipment, and materials, requesting additional items as needed.
- Maintain high standards and document work with before and after photos.
- Keep a clean and organised workspace, prioritising the safety of Owners, team members, and visitors.
- Collaborate with Maintenance and Grounds teams, offering flexibility as required.
- Perform any other duties directed by the Facilities Manager.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
