Overview
Under direct supervision apply coats of paint, varnish, stain, and other finishes and wallpapers to decorate and protect interior and exterior surfaces, equipment, and furniture of hospital facilities.
Responsibilities
- Receive assignments and work orders; requisition materials and equipment for work to be performed.
- Prepare surfaces for painting or wallpapering by removing wallpaper and/or paint, washing, scraping, sanding, filling holes, cracks and joints.
- Prepare work area by erecting scaffold, rigging or other necessary stabling
- Install or replace floor coverings as required; hand drop ceilings.
- Select premixed paints or prepare paints to meet specifications; apply primer and finish coats to interior and exterior surfaces as specified.
- Restore and/or refinish damaged wood and metal furniture.
- Assist and work with other trades personnel as required; act as work crew leader when project work requires it.
- Maintain records, reports, and statistics as required; maintain appropriate manuals, blueprints, and other such materials.
- Keep work areas orderly, clean, and safe; assure proper care in use of tools, equipment and supplies.
- Maintain established hospital policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control.
- Other duties.
