Band 7 Specialist Palliative Care Nurse (30 hours per week / 0.8 WTE) – Trust-wide Role

About the Role

An exciting permanent opportunity has arisen for a Specialist Palliative Care Nurse (Band 7), 30 hours per week (0.8WTE), to join the Palliative Care Hospital Liaison Team as part of the Palliative Care Service within Northumbria Healthcare Trust.

This trust-wide role includes:

  • Supporting patients in Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital (NSECH) in Cramlington
  • Covering Wansbeck General Hospital, Ashington
  • Optional requirments to cover into additional areas of Northumbria

The team provides expert palliative care to patients and carers with life-limiting illnesses in acute hospital settings by supporting medical and nursing staff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide expert specialist palliative care for patients and carers with life-limiting illnesses within hospital settings.
  • Collaborate with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) to deliver a seamless palliative care service, enabling patients to stay in their chosen environment.
  • Offer clinical, professional support, resources and education to MDT members when needed.
  • Work as an autonomous practitioner within a multidisciplinary setting, ensuring adherence to professional codes of conduct.
  • Partner with other healthcare professionals to promote and develop the ethos of palliative care across the Trust and local community.
