The Role
Vacancy Summary
England Athletics seeks a Permanent Para Athletics Talent Officer to lead the identification and recruitment of talented para athletes into the England Athletics Talent Pathway. Reporting directly to the National Para Athletics Manager, this role will engage with clubs, coaches, and partners to strengthen pathways for para athletes across all event groups, while enabling more participants to progress towards Team England and GB&NI representation.

- Home-based, with significant travel required as needed

Key Responsibilities
Core duties include, but are not limited to:
Talent Identification & Recruitment
- Lead recruitment efforts to attract para athletes with eligible impairments into the England Athletics Talent Pathway.
- Serve as the first point of contact for para athletics inquiries, providing specialist support for club signposting and classification guidance.
- Work collaboratively with clubs, coaches, and disability sports partners to build sustainable talent development systems.

Pathway Expansion
- Deliver strategies for disability inclusion, including:
- Co-designing and rolling out the Frame Running strategy
- Coordination of Street-to-Stadium initiatives (para talent programmes)
- Ensuring grassroots talent opportunities are accessed by skilled, para-aware coaches
Operational & Supportive Roles
- Advise fully on ** Para Athletics Education Standards (PAES)** training and best practice for coaches/clubs.
- Facilitate cross-segment collaboration between grassroots disability sport networks and
- the England Athletics talent pathway.
- Assist the England Para Team (domestic and internationally) in competition scenarios.
- Monitor and report on national-level talent investment towards the Paralympic pathway.
Required Experience & Skills
Essential Criteria
- A degree in a relevant Subject (e.g. Sport Science, Coaching, Physical Education) OR extensive experience in:
- Athletics and disability sport (minimum 5 years)
- Coaching/mentoring para athletes (any Paralympic discipline)
- In-depth knowledge of the:
- England Athletics' talent infrastructure
- Paralympic eligibility pathways (or ability/aptitude for development into these systems)
- A strong awareness of how para athletes integrate into traditional athletics clubs.
- Demonstrable passion for expanding opportunity for disabled athletes at all levels.
- Excellent:
- Organisational skills in multitasking admin-intensive projects
- Stakeholder management across coaches, partners and athletes
- Clear communication (written/verbal)
- Willingness and ability to travel widely (nationally) for events/activities.
