Legal Counsel – Global Commercial Contracting (Windsor, CT – Hybrid)

About the Role
SS&C’s Legal Counsel team provides general legal advice, negotiates commercial contracts with clients/suppliers, and supports the SS&C Group’s business units and corporate functions. This role is essential in maintaining compliance, reducing risk, and ensuring smooth, legally robust business operations.

Key Responsibilities
Contract Management
- Draft, review, and edit legal documents, including:
- Work Orders
- Statements of Work
- Order Forms
- Declarations
- Notify, interpret, and deliver clear briefings on assessments, operational impacts, and legal directives.
Contract Review & Analysis
- Review contracts, agreements, and legal documents for compliance and accuracy.
- Assess risk factors and recommendation mitigation strategies for complex projects.
Vendor & Project Engagement
- Coordinate with stakeholders and internal records to gather essential information.
- Proactively identify challenges and anticipate issues that may arise during term.
Client & External Relations
- Liaise with clients and external legal entities as required.
Research & Documentation
- Conduct legal research, compiling references, case law, statutes, and regulations.
- Prepare detailed case write-ups and impact assessments.
Requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and strong technical aptitude.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and organizational strengths, with the ability to identify patterns.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong interpersonal skills to build trusted relationships with internal teams (handling disputes in sensitive areas) and external clients.
- Emotional intelligence, team ethic, and positive, collaborative attitude.

Desirable Experience & Knowledge
- Prior experience on a contracts team.
- Familiarity with CRM tools.
- Knowledge of data protection law.
