Job Description

Where you’ll fit in & what our team goals are…

We are seeking a motivated and ambitious Employment Law Paralegal to join our Global Employment Law Team (located in London, Minneapolis and Gurugram). This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate to work in global regulated financial institution and gain exposure to a broad range of employment law, employee benefits and compensation matters in the UK and other global locations.

How you'll spend your time...

Role

The role will report to our EMEA/APAC employment lawyer based in London and support other lawyers in the Global Employment Law Team providing legal and practical advice to HR and senior stakeholders across the employment life cycle including:

  • Advising on contentious and non-contentious HR/employee relations issues
  • Drafting and reviewing contracts of employment, HR policies, and settlement agreements
  • Assisting in all phases of employment and benefits litigation
  • Conducting legal research
  • Liaising with external legal advisers when required
  • Assisting with transformation, integration and change processes including outsourcing, insourcing, mergers and acquisitions and changes to benefits and terms and conditions of employment.
  • Supporting Benefits Committee operations by managing legal deliverables and preparing fiduciary materials

The role will play an integral role in the team and be given responsibility to manage an independent caseload, with structured supervision and mentoring.

To be successful in this role you will have...

  • Established experience in employment law in the UK either in a private practice law firm or in house at a multi-national corporation
  • Strong drafting and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Effectively manages concurrent projects or tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Commercially aware, practically minded and solutions-focused
  • Comfortable working autonomously when needed
  • Curious and keen to learn

If you also had this, it would be great...

  • Law degree/LPC
  • Experience working in financial services
  • Knowledge of senior managers and certification regime (SMCR), or other financial services licensing regimes outside of the UK
  • Experience working on employment law matters outside of the UK
  • Knowledge of regulatory compensation rules in Europe
  • Experience Of Employee Benefits Matters/commercial Contract Negotiation
