I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

The Problems You'll Solve
At Carta, our employees set out on a mission to unlock the power of equity ownership for more people in more places. We believe that the problems we solve today unlock the opportunities of tomorrow. As a Funds Paralegal, you'll work to:
- Prepare initial drafts of LP transfer documents (transfer agreements, consents, subscription agreements)
- Liaise with transfer parties on process and timings, and assist with execution workflows
- Work closely with lawyers and senior paralegals, contributing to high-quality client delivery across fast-moving, high-volume matters
- Build commercial and legal expertise over time, with opportunities to take ownership of client accounts and progress towards qualification via the SQE route
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Eager to learn and grow. You are motivated, curious, and excited to develop expertise in legal practice – whether that is compliance, contracts, or funds.
- Organised and efficient. You prioritise well, manage competing deadlines, and keep matters moving without losing attention to detail.
- A strong communicator. You write and speak clearly and professionally, understanding that our clients expect crisp, concise advice.
- A self-starter. You take initiative, work independently when needed, and proactively flag issues before they become problems.
- A team player. You collaborate effectively with lawyers, senior paralegals, and client-facing teams across a fast-paced environment.
- Legally educated (preferred). An undergraduate Law degree or equivalent is preferred; a GDL is welcome. Prior exposure to LP Transfer processes is a plus but not required.
