Description

This role offers an excellent opportunity for someone who is considering their first step into Healthcare & Sports litigation. The role will be to work directly alongside two of the Healthcare & Sports Partners on a range of matters. The successful candidate will be required to deal with delegated tasks on non–delegated, hourly rate, high profile cases where Keoghs act for a large number of interested parties.

Key Accountabilities

  • Delivery of agreed performance targets and quality standards – the paralegal will be expected to achieve 5.2 chargeable hours per day.
  • Fielding telephone calls and dealing with general queries; together with liaising with parties involved in claims including the policy holders, insurers, experts, and witnesses.
  • Reviewing huge volumes of medical records to provide a factual note of the evidence/chronology.
  • Use of Collaborate and/or Bundledocs to upload documents, providing access to clients, experts, and Counsel.
  • Maintaining Tracker with details of new proceedings and new involvements so as to keep the digital file current.
  • Creating indexes and bundles using Bundledocs; and/or preparing documents digitally for use by Counsel and experts.
  • Using Foxit to split files and save into Tracker document library.
  • Arranging conferences with client and counsel and experts; obtaining availability for hearings, JSMs and trials.
  • Liaising with witnesses including their availability for conferences and trials.
  • Registering and updating CRU, notifying CRU of settlement.
  • Legal research.
  • Ad hoc legal tasks.
  • Assisting with billing queries.

Experience, Skills and Qualifications

  • Excellent telephone and communication skills with people at all levels inside and outside of the business
  • An ability to organise and prioritise tasks using initiative
  • Calm under pressure with the ability to re-prioritise and delegate effectively when required
  • Excellent Listening, Verbal and Written Communication skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • A team worker with the flexibility to do what is required to get a result and ensure client service levels are met
  • Ability to anticipate problems, identify solutions, and make decisions
