We are looking for an experienced Paralegal to join our Legal Team and support the delivery of high-quality legal services across the business. This role focuses primarily on residential property matters, supporting lending operations through the review of title documentation, legal research, and management of property-related legal queries.

The successful candidate will play an important role in identifying and mitigating legal risks while contributing to the effective delivery of legal services and positive customer outcomes.

Main Responsibilities

Legal Advice and Case Management

  • Review and interpret title documentation under the supervision of Solicitors and support the provision of legal advice on residential property matters.
  • Assist in the identification and assessment of legal risks arising from title issues and property transactions.
  • Support the delivery of legal services across the lending lifecycle.
  • Handle property-related legal queries within the scope of experience and authority, escalating matters where appropriate.
  • Submit applications to HM Land Registry, including mortgage discharges and other post-completion requirements.
  • Assist with the review of leases, estate rent charges, title documentation and other property-related matters.
  • Conduct legal and factual research and present findings clearly and accurately to support legal decision-making.
  • Assist in the preparation of legal reports, correspondence and internal guidance.
  • Support the Legal Team with administrative activities, file management and document preparation.
  • Ensure all work is completed accurately, professionally and within agreed service standards.

Risk, Compliance and Governance

  • Work in accordance with relevant legislation, regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures.
  • Support the identification and management of legal and regulatory risks.
  • Escalate complex, high-risk or unusual matters to senior members of the team where appropriate.
  • Contribute to maintaining a strong risk and compliance culture across the business.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of developments in property law and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure confidential and sensitive information is handled appropriately at all times.

Team Support and Knowledge Sharing

  • Collaborate with Solicitors, Property Lawyers and other colleagues to support the delivery of legal services.
  • Share knowledge and best practice with colleagues across the Legal Team.
  • Support junior team members where required, acting as a positive and professional role model.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous learning, collaboration and professional development.

Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement

  • Assist with quality assurance activities and file reviews where required.
  • Support the development and maintenance of legal guidance notes, procedures and best practice documents.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls and ways of working.
  • Contribute to business improvement initiatives and projects requiring legal input.

Stakeholder and Business Support

  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders across the business.
  • Provide responsive and professional support to internal customers.
  • Liaise with HM Land Registry, external legal advisers and other third parties where required.
  • Support the Legal Team in delivering positive customer and business outcomes.
  • Contribute legal expertise and support to projects and change initiatives as required.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous Paralegal experience, ideally within residential property or conveyancing.
  • Strong understanding of title documentation and property-related legal matters.
  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage a varied workload and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Confidence working with internal and external stakeholders.
  • A proactive and collaborative approach.
  • A legal qualification would be advantageous.
