Position: Paralegal – Trade Compliance
Location: London
The Job
This is an excellent opportunity for a forward-thinking, innovative paralegal looking to work with a like-minded team and organisation. The role will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to work on a variety of in-house legal matters to support AVEVA’s growing business.
Responsibilities
- Administering incoming Know Your Customer flag clearance requests from the business and overall responsibility for administering the central inbox/service desk
- Managing the business’ expectations with regards to timelines for review and response
- Supporting with reviews of potential compliance concerns in relation to customers, and seeking to resolve those where possible in line with AVEVA’s risk appetite
- Being well-versed in AVEVA’s screening system and managing settings and administration aspects of the system, including adding new users and managing escalation routes
- Ensuring high standards of record-keeping to document legal decision-making
- Carrying out ad-hoc legal research to support live issues
- Supporting with updates to AVEVA’s policies and protocols as needed
- Attending regular calls/meetings with other members of the legal team to discuss live trade compliance matters and supporting with pragmatic solutions to compliance issues
- Supporting with reviews of extracts from customer contracts to advise on the trade compliance protections and permissibility of any requested deviations in line with AVEVA’s risk appetite, policies and procedures
- Liaising with the commercial legal function, commercial operations and sales to collect relevant transaction specific detail and supporting with risk assessments and due diligence reports
- Ad-hoc legal research to support a particular matter or project
- Conducting reviews of internal policies and providing legal commentary

Skills & Qualifications
- Qualifying Law Degree or equivalent, or Paralegal Studies qualification
- A proven track record of managing a varied workload and meeting deadlines
- Experience in maintaining high ethical and compliance standards within an organisation
- Excellent written communication skills
- Excellent legal research skills
- Excellent organisational skills
- Willingness to learn, be flexible to changing priorities and demonstrate excellence every day in your work
- Solid computer skills: Proficient in MS Office Suite
- Fluent in English language (written and spoken)
- Prior paralegal experience (nice to have)
- Legal Practice Course (nice to have)

Hybrid working
We work in a hybrid way at AVEVA. Most roles are based at a local AVEVA office, with an expectation of being on-site 50% of your working hours to support collaboration and connection. Some positions are fully office-based depending on the nature of the work, and certain roles that support specific customers or markets may be remote. The working arrangement for this position will be confirmed during the hiring process.
