Introduction
We are looking for a Paraplanner to join our growing Personal Advice Desk (PAD) team. The ideal candidate must have great communication skills and be able to troubleshoot and process work in a timely and efficient manner.
As part of our team, you'll have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment where your skills and expertise will be put to the test every day. With a focus on financial planning and discretionary investment management, you'll be an integral part of ensuring that our clients' assets are managed efficiently and effectively.
PAD is the team responsible for the delivery of the Select proposition, a fully functioning component of Saltus Financial Planning. PAD facilitates the management of our clients with investible assets between £50,000 to £250,000.
The team consists of two core functions: Relationship Management and Advice. Whilst the Relationship Managers are responsible for the ongoing relationship with Select clients, advice needs are met by the advice team. Traditionally, some advisers begin as trainee advisers on the Saltus Financial Planner Pathway and PAD provides them with the experience to complete their stage 1 and stage 2 competent adviser status (CAS) assessments. This may lead to a long-term adviser role in PAD or move to Premier and manage their own client bank, as opportunities arise.

What does this role look like?
We are recruiting a Paraplanner with a solid technical background in supporting financial planning advice given by PAD advisers who have attained CAS, including the preparation of cashflow models and suitability reports to a high standard.
The role will report to the Principal Financial Planner, and the key areas of responsibility are as follows:
- Analyse client information and existing investments/policies
- Tax calculations
- Construct appropriate solutions for clients and make recommendations in conjunction with the advisers
- Write suitability reports for cases of varying complexity
- Run cashflow models for clients
- Be a point of contact for technical queries for PS, RMs and advisers
- Communicating with clients on research and report timescales
- Attend virtual client meetings where required
- Helping to train other members of the team
- Potentially getting involved in some project work to further improve our systems and processes
- Undertake peer reviews for other paraplanners and advisers working towards CAS status

What sort of person are you looking for?
The successful candidate will be confident supporting clients with a diverse range of needs and have a proactive, solution-focused approach. The role may suit an able Paraplanner who does not wish to be client facing but does want to be a key individual within a thriving business.
- Demonstrate a strong technical knowledge and understanding of all financial products
- Hold the CII Level 4 diploma in regulated financial planning, and ideally working towards Chartered status
- Have experience in a paraplanning role
- Have strong IT skills; experience of Curo, FE Analytics and FinCalc advantageous
- Have a good attention to detail
- Be a good team player
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing
- Be comfortable with working in a fast-paced environment
- Be organised and able to manage a busy workload
Where will I be working?
We are looking for someone to work from either Bath, Solent or Bournemouth office, and offer hybrid working, which includes 3 days in the office. We’re incredibly flexible about when and how you work: we don’t want anyone to be prevented from coming to work for Saltus as a result of the working pattern that they’re looking for. What benefits do I get when working for Saltus?
The role is 37.5 hours per week to be worked between the hours of 8.30-5.30pm. The salary is between £35,000 - £45,000 depending on experience, alongside 25 days’ holiday (plus bank holidays), life assurance, income protection and a pension, alongside access to our flexible benefits platform.
