Homeworking role
About the role
As a Paraplanner at NFU Mutual, you’ll provide financial planning support and systems and technical guidance to Financial Advisers, so they can deliver a compliant and efficient sales and advice process.
You’ll join the Financial Services team and work closely with our Financial Advisers across the UK. Our expert team helps deliver trusted advice and tailored solutions by reviewing recommendations, building suitability reports, ensuring advice meets regulatory requirements, and providing expert technical support through a central mailbox.
In this role, you’ll interpret and evaluate the quality of financial planning advice, compose and review draft financial reports, ensuring that all advice and recommendations are clear and straightforward. You will critically assess the recommendations made by advisers, ensuring alignment with current guidance and rules, and are expected to question and challenge advisers to maintain high standards. You’ll also identify improvements to the advice proposition, share feedback on trends, risks and training needs, and support short-term activities agreed with your line manager.
The role is full-time, home-based, with quarterly team meetings at NFU Mutual’s Head Office in Stratford-upon-Avon. Additionally, you’ll spend more time at Head Office during training and induction in the early weeks so we can provide the best possible support as you get started.
About you
You communicate clearly, make considered decisions, and take an analytical, inquisitive approach to your work. You’ll keep customers, quality and compliance at the centre of the advice process. You’re comfortable explaining complex information and working with others to deliver practical, timely outcomes. A high level of attention to detail, strong relationship-building skills, and the ability to multitask are essential. The role requires someone who is highly organised, uses their initiative and is capable of making decisions. You’ll be able to write clear, concise reports that are easy for customers to understand.
You must hold a Level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning and have experience dealing with complex financial information within a regulated environment.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
