Park Operations Assistant (Great Notley Country Park)

Permanent, Part Time

£13.46 per hour

Location: Braintree

Working Style: Fixed-base worker

The Role

We currently have the following part-time opportunity available at Great Notley Country Park:

  • 1 position averaging 14.48 hours per week (769 hours per year on an annualised contract)

The working pattern operates on a rolling rota, so flexibility is essential. Please note that this role will include regular weekend working.

The Opportunity

Based at Great Notley Country Park, the Park Operations Assistant will ensure the park is secure and open at critical times during the day for visitors. This includes access to all the facilities which are expected to be safe and well-presented environments for the visiting public. You will be expected to carry out a variety of duties and tasks in order to maintain the grounds & infrastructure and there will be the opportunity to expand the core role as required to meet the needs of the park. Accountabilities

  • Contribute to the daily operation of the parks by ensuring all car park vehicle access points to the park are open at the times publicised to the general public and also securely closed when the site is closed.
  • Assist with the efficiency of the operation by ensuring all facilities including toilets, buildings and storage areas are secure and designated areas are available as needed.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the building and park, including, painting, putting up signage, weeding, cutting back foliage etc so practical experience would be advantageous.
  • Assist with the efficiency of the operation by ensuring that all facilities are cleaned and maintained including toilets, litter picking, and bin clearance are undertaken.
  • Support general operational activities as required.
  • Complete relevant checks such as Health and Safety checks within the park and completing all relevant paperwork in line with procedures.
  • Engage with customers to consider and improve the visitor’s experience; dealing with issues and problems involving visitors that occur within a Country Park.
  • Specific individual and shared targets and objectives are defined annually within the performance management framework.
  • Any other duties as reasonably requested commensurate with the level of the role and responsibilities.

The Experience You Will Bring

  • Practical maintenance experience would be desirable
  • Educated to RQF Level 2 (GCSE or BTech), or equivalent by experience.
  • Experience of working with members of the public or customers delivering excellent customer service.
  • Evidence of good communication skills with the ability to deliver information and advice.
  • Experience of working within a team and supporting team members to deliver local objectives.
