Parking Services Administrative Officer Ipswich Borough Council
Location Grafton House, Russell Road, Ipswich, Suffolk IP1 2DE
Role Overview Ipswich Borough Council is seeking a self-motivated and highly customer-focused individual to join our Processing Team in Parking Services. This is an opportunity to contribute to a friendly, professional, and supportive team delivering essential services across Ipswich.
Parking Services oversees:
- Management of parking provision (both council car parks and on-street)
- Administration and delivery of the residents’ parking scheme
- Enforcement of parking restrictions
- Recovery of parking fees and enforcement activities
The Processing Team ensures efficient, accurate, and legislatively compliant handling of administration, appeals, and Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs).
Responsibilities
- PCN Processing:
- Manage the second stage of the Penalty Charge Notice process
- Review appeals and draft written responses
- Progress PCN cases in line with legislation
- Customer Support:
- Respond to enquiries from customers
- Advise on parking permits and process applications
- Administrative Duties:
- Handle clamping and vehicle removal processes
- Manage the residents parking permit scheme
- Financial Reporting:
- Reconcile and report income

Requirements
Essential:
- Experience in a customer-focused environment
- Strong communication skills
- Strong IT skills and experience using multiple systems
Desirable:
- Previous work in parking or customer service
Training & Certification: Successful candidates will complete a City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Parking.
