Job title: Parking Support Officer

Grade: BR6
Salary: £27,262 - £29,900
Contract: Temporary – 12 months (maximum)
Working hours: 36 hours, Monday to Friday
Location: Bromley Civic Centre
Working pattern: Hybrid – Up to 2 days per working week office attendance, remote working for the remainder of the working week

The Shared Parking Service of the London Borough of Bromley and the London Borough of Bexley is looking to recruit a Parking Support Officer to join this busy team to a 12-month limited contract.

The Successful Candidate Will Mainly Be Responsible For

  • Assisting with the back-office processing of all civil traffic and parking Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) for both Boroughs
  • Answering emails and phone enquiries from the public
  • Investigating and responding to challenges submitted against the issue of PCNs and ensuring that all cases are progressed as required by statutory regulations, best practice and local Council guidelines

As a member of the team, you will be involved in traffic and parking related matters, as well as involvement in financial reconciliation, parking permit administration and parking suspensions as well as other associated duties.

Requirements

The successful candidate will be expected to have excellent communication skills to be able to function effectively within the dynamic of the Team, communicate and liaise with internal and external colleagues and be able to communicate with the public.

No previous experience within the parking industry is necessary as all training will be provided on the job, however, the ability to use ICT with confidence is essential.

The post requires a strong-willed person, who is not afraid to make decisions, can follow policies and work within a team structure but also think and work independently, and is able to participate with confidence in team discussions and meetings. They will also need strong investigative skills and be able to work in a politically charged and confidential environment.

As an employer, we encourage flexible working arrangements, it would be expected for the successful candidates to work in the Bromley Town Centre based Civic Centre office for up to 2 days in the working week, with the remote working for the non-office days. However, whilst receiving training it may be necessary for additional days to be spent in the office.
