Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site Parliamentary Assistant role working for Tom Hayes MP - based in Westminster, United Kingdom. The Parliamentary Assistant will support Tom with day-to-day parliamentary and administrative duties, including drafting speeches, preparing briefings, and assisting with research on policy and constituency issues. The role involves writing press releases, maintaining communication with stakeholders, and helping to manage correspondence, diaries, and meeting logistics. The Parliamentary Assistant will also coordinate information for debates and committee work, ensure accurate record-keeping, and contribute to the development of clear, concise messaging for the MP’s parliamentary and public activities.

  • Candidates should possess research skills to gather, analyze, and summarize information on policy, legislation, and constituency matters.
  • Candidates should possess administrative assistance skills, including organizing schedules, handling correspondence, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Candidates should possess interpersonal communication skills to liaise effectively with constituents, stakeholders, and parliamentary colleagues.
  • Relevant qualifications such as a degree in politics, law, public policy, communications, or a related field are beneficial.
  • Knowledge of UK parliamentary processes, attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to work under pressure to tight deadlines are highly advantageous.
  • Proficiency with standard office software and the ability to learn parliamentary systems quickly is desirable.
