Be the link that brings people and communities together.
At FitzRoy, we support people with learning disabilities, autism and mental health needs to live the lives they choose — in real homes, as part of real communities.
We’re looking for a Community Engagement Officer to join us in a brand new role across Hampshire.
This isn’t a desk-based role. It’s about being out in the community — meeting people, spotting opportunities, and making things happen.
You’ll spend time in our services getting to know the people we support — what they enjoy, what they’d love to try, what matters to them. Then you’ll take those insights out into the community, building connections with local groups, organisations, businesses and individuals to create opportunities that bring people together.
From gardening projects and music groups to sports, food or creative activities — this role is about creating spaces where people connect through shared interests, not labels.
You’ll work closely with our Fundraising Team to shape these ideas into projects that can attract local support, funding and partnerships.
About the role
Location: Hampshire (with travel across local FitzRoy services and communities)
Contract: Temporary – 18 months
Part Time Salary: Up to £23,040 DOE
Hours: Part time – 24 hours per week

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
