Part-Time Housekeeper (St John’s Wood, Private Historic Property)
Role Overview
A UHNW private client seeks a careful, experienced, and discreet part-time Housekeeper to support the upkeep and presentation of an extremely unique and sensitive historic property in St John’s Wood.
The property serves primarily as a private workspace/art space, with occasional overnight stays by the client or guests. Whilst not a main residence (the client resides principally in the Cotswolds), the property must remain exceptionally well-maintained, clean, and ready for use at all times.
This is a hands-on role requiring patience, meticulous attention to detail, and respect for delicate finishes, fine materials, and historic interiors. The successful candidate will work alongside the existing Senior Housekeeper, assisting in upholding the highest standards.
Schedule
- Monday, Wednesday, Friday
- 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (or alternately 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
- Occasional weekend support may be required by prior arrangement
Key Responsibilities
General Upkeep & Presentation
- Maintain a daily routine of careful housekeeping to ensure the property remains immaculate, organised, and beautifully presented
- Prepare the property swiftly and professionally for the client or guests when required

Preservation & Delicate Maintenance
- Clean and maintain delicate interiors, surfaces, and finishes with the utmost care
- Handle fine furnishings, fabrics, antiques, artwork, and surfaces without damage, using appropriate cleaning techniques and products
- Report any maintenance concerns, damage, or presentation issues immediately to the Senior Housekeeper
Detailed Daily/Dawaiting Tasks
- Dusting, polishing, vacuuming, and general deep cleaning (including special surfaces and delicate areas)
- Occasional linen/wardrobe care (ironing, laundering, organising)
- Handling deliveries in the absence of the Senior Housekeeper
- Support the Senior Housekeeper with room preparation, presentation, and event readiness
Professional Conduct
- Maintain absolute confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism at all times
- Work consistently under direction, ensuring tasks align with established protocols
- Prioritise precision over speed when caring for the property’s unique features
Working Environment
- A refined historic private property, blending art-centric living spaces with high-value interiors and sensitive decor
- The focus is not daily family housekeeping but rather preservation, readiness, and polished presentation for artistic/private use
- Requires a thoughtful, discreet, and adaptable approach—cleaning is secondary to caring for the property’s legacy
- Must operate within an established household structure, taking clear direction from the Senior Housekeeper

Requirements
Experience & Skills
- Proven professional background as a Housekeeper in a high-end private residence or historically sensitive property
- Strong detail orientation and impeccable work quality—especially with delicate materials and antiques
- Practical experience with historic finishes, fine furnishings, or artwork care (highly beneficial)
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills to adhere to strict schedules and multi-tasking demands
Attitude & Personal Qualities
- Discreet, professional, and reliable—maps with clinical wisdom in client confidentiality and sensitivities
- Non-judgmental approach and ability to work peacefully under supervision from a senior household team
- Cleaning expertise: knowledge of safe, effective products/methods for historic surfaces and luxury interiors
Legal & Availability
- Right to work in the United Kingdom
- Willingness to offer occasional weekend support when necessary
