The School of Hair, Beauty and Creative, Luton Campus

About the Role

The School of Hair, Beauty and Creative are seeking an enthusiastic and flexible person to join their team as a Learning Assistant in Media.

The selected candidate will:

  • Be part of the curriculum team,
  • Lead practical teaching sessions,
  • Support teaching staff to enhance learning,
  • Provide practical assistance in the classroom.

The role requires a proactive individual to support both staff and students in a hands-on capacity. Key activities include:

  • Video Production and Editing
  • Audio Production
  • Graphic design & visual content
  • Animation & motion graphics
  • Digital and web media
  • Social media & content management
  • Equipment and technical support

The role involves supervising, coaching, and guiding students on formative and summative assessment tasks such as:

  • Creating Music Videos
  • Live TV Production
  • Documentary-making

Requirements

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

Teaching & Support

  • Support setup and preparation of the TV Studio, assessment areas, and resources.
  • Ensure maintenance of equipment and stocks to meet students’ needs and industry standards.
  • Demonstrate competency across the following Adobe suite:
    • Adobe Premiere Pro
    • Adobe Illustrator
    • Adobe Photoshop
    • Adobe After Effects
  • Coach and teach using industry experience to develop students’ employability skills.
  • Provide support in final project work.

Equipment & Logistics

  • Potentially manage equipment stock, including:
    • Ordering resources,
    • Booking and allocating equipment,
    • Maintaining and preparing equipment for use.

Professionalism & Standards

  • Always promote professionalism and excellent customer service.
  • Must have:
    • A practical knowledge of the Creative Media department,
    • Relevant qualifications,
    • Industry experience.

Soft Skills

  • Professional manner
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to interpret technical information and explain it clearly.

Contract Details

  • Term-time only (33 hours per week).
  • 34 weeks per year at the Luton Campus.

Timeline

  • Closing date for applications: Sunday 9th August 2026.
  • Interviews commence: week beginning 17th August 2026.
