Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer in Initial Teacher Education to join our vibrant, creative academic community in the School of Education.
The successful candidate will contribute to all aspects of teaching and curriculum development for Primary Initial Teacher Education, with a **particular focus on teaching primary English.
About the Role
The role involves collaborative work with:
- Head of Initial Teacher Education
- Programme Directors
- Programme Leaders
Key responsibilities:
- Lead on enhancing the ITE Partnership Curriculum (Primary) and Bath Spa Teachers' (BST) experience
- Support student recruitment
- Drive leadership in a selected area of School operations
- Act as Academic Tutor for the BA Primary Education (5-11) with QTS, focusing on:
- Teaching and formative assessment
- Professional guidance and qualification for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Core expectations:
- Thrive in an interdisciplinary setting
- Specialise in delivering progressive understanding of primary English from KS1 to KS2, and how subjects integrate across the curriculum
- Engage in onar practice, curriculum development, and HEIOT collaboration

About You
Entry requirements:
- A good first degree in a relevant discipline, with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
- Extensive experience in primary teaching (KS1/KS2 preferred)
- Demonstrated expertise in pedagogic innovation and support for new trainees
- Strong knowledge of primary education policies (England, including current reforms)
Preferential expertise:
- Proven record of teaching primary English (with knowledge of phonic systems: synthetic/analytical)
- Expertise in trainee support (Initial Teacher Education or Early Career Teacher (ECT) development)
- Experience integrating research, practice, and teaching (QTS and undergraduate awards)
- Established or ambition to develop a research/publication profile
- Familiarity with current HE landscape and its strategic relevance to roles in School/School/University
Additional Information
- Compensation scale: £44,746 to £56,536 per annum (pro rata on 0.6fte)
- Starting salary typically aligned to the lower range (localised as long as no exceptional circumstances apply)

Compensation Structure & Staff Benefits
- Salary progression: £26,847–£33,921 on full-time: pro rata equivalent
- Annual inflationary increases included in rise to max.
