Join Rosebank House in Reading as a Part-Time Maintenance Assistant
Where you will take the lead in keeping the site safe, well-maintained, and welcoming for some of the most vulnerable people in society.
This is a hands-on role covering all aspects of general site maintenance. You’ll be responsible for day-to-day repairs, basic DIY and decorating, planned maintenance checks, health & safety audits, and overseeing the upkeep of the gardens and outdoor areas. You’ll also manage contractors for specialist work, ensuring everything on site is safe, compliant, and kept to a high standard.
This is a part-time position working 25 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 2:00pm. There is some flexibility on how these hours are worked, which can be discussed during the hiring process.
As the lead for maintenance at Rosebank House, you’ll be the go-to person for all building and site-related matters, working closely with the wider team to provide a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for service users, staff, and visitors.

As a Maintenance Officer, You Will Be
- Being the main responsible person for all maintenance aspects of Rosebank House, ensuring that the buildings, facilities, and equipment are maintained and fit for purpose.
- Utilising strong DIY and practical skills to ensure the safety and comfort of service users is maintained.
- Planning, conducting, and documenting regular safety checks, audits, and maintenance schedules.
- Leading on the repair, maintenance, and decorating of all buildings within Rosebank House.
- Liaising with and reporting directly to the Manager on all faults, defects, and maintenance plans.
- Coordinating, supervising, and supporting all contractors whilst on site, completing all necessary paperwork and tool checks.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will
- Have proven experience within a maintenance role, preferably with some supervisory or lead responsibility.
- Comply with all health & safety systems and procedures.
- Work effectively both independently and as part of a wider team.
- Show courtesy and respect to residents and colleagues at all times to ensure the highest quality of service.
- Attend and participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
- Be proactive, organised, and able to prioritise a varied workload.
Where You Will Be Working
Location: Lower Henley Road, Caversham, Reading, Berkshire, RG4 5LE
You will be working at Rosebank House, a 24 hour specialist care and support service for people with severe and enduring mental health needs. People who come to Rosebank House have normally come from a hospital environment or have been sectioned under the Mental Health Act (1983).
You will be working at the modern, purpose-built home with 13 en-suite bedrooms, it is specifically designed with facilities to fully prepare patients for independence in the community. The focus of the service is on independent living skills as well as social inclusion, education and employment engagement. There are close links with the local community for residents to access local college, work placements and amenities.
