Part Time Host – One Square Restaurant
Location: 1 Festival Square, Edinburgh, EH3 9SR | Schedule: Part Time (20 hours over 2 days, mostly weekends)

The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa, Edinburgh, a five-star facility serving as one of Scotland’s premier 269-bedroom hotels, invites applications for a Part-Time Host to join the One Square, Food & Beverage Team.
About the Role
The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa is a landmark in Edinburgh’s bustling financial and tourist hub, celebrated for its award-winning One Square Restaurant, state-of-the-art banqueting facilities (capable of hosting up to 500 attendees), and the One Spa™—one of Europe’s premier urban spas.
In this role, you’ll act as the first and last impression ambassador, ensuring a seamless, warm, and professional guest experience. You’ll be responsible for efficiently managing reservations, seating arrangements, and service logistics while upholding Sheraton’s world-class hospitality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Guest Welcome & Service
- Greet guests cheerfully upon arrival, determine party size, and relay them to their reserved seats.
- Update contracts and seating plans with accurate guest info while ensuring current/clean menus are provided.
- Navigate and assist diners through dining rooms, adjusting tables/chairs and seating layouts as needed, including group-specific arrangements.
- Ensure complete place settings (naked-free napkins, clean silverware, valid side dishes) for all guests.

Dynamic Environment Management
- Monitor availability closely, manage reservations for optimal seating, service delivery, and safety protocols.
- Refurbish circulation × 10 tables and menus to maintain cleanliness within acceptance standards.
- Provide barista-coffee service in the hotel lounge for a more tailored guest experience.

Daily Operations & Hygiene
- Commit to clean-as-you-go procedures, maintaining a immaculate work environment.
- Actively support rapid turnover between shifts, ensuring efficiency at all times.
Requirements & Qualifications

Personality & Professionalism
- Natural confidence, outgoing demeanour, and passion for exceptional guest service.
- A go-getter approach to challenges, with adaptability and agility in high-volume scenarios.

Language & Technical Skills
- Fluent English—both written and spoken, including strong phone communication.
- Proven ability using OpenTable, Microsoft Outlook, and advanced computer applications.
- Preferred but not mandatory:
- Prior Food & Beverage (F&B) serving/bistro experience
- Barista training and knowledge

Availability & Mindset
- Part-time with weekends foci (flexibility required for early/layer duties).
- Willing to maintain a positive demeanor amidst operational demands.
