Due to continued business growth, we're looking to recruit a Part-Time P401 Qualified Laboratory Analyst to join our expanding Technical Team.

Role: Part-Time P401 Qualified Laboratory Analyst

Location: Livingston, Scotland

Salary: £14.00 - £14.49 per hour (£14,560.00 - £15,069.60 per annum, pro rata), dependent on experience and qualifications

Job Type: Part-time | 20 hours per week

Due to continued growth and an expanding national client portfolio, we're looking for an experienced and motivated P401 Qualified Laboratory Analyst to join our established UKAS-accredited laboratory in Livingston. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a respected nationwide consultancy, working within a professional laboratory environment that supports our nationwide asbestos consultancy services.

The Role

As a Part-Time P401 Qualified Laboratory Analyst, you'll be responsible for the accurate analysis of asbestos bulk samples in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation standards, ensuring results are produced to the highest levels of quality and accuracy.

Working as part of our laboratory team, you'll analyse samples, maintain quality standards and produce accurate reports for both internal departments and external clients. You'll also contribute to maintaining the laboratory's UKAS accreditation through compliance with quality procedures, audits and continual professional development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse asbestos bulk samples in accordance with ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation requirements.
  • Accurately identify and report asbestos-containing materials using approved analytical techniques.
  • Produce accurate laboratory reports for internal teams and external clients.
  • Maintain laboratory records and documentation in accordance with company quality procedures.
  • Work in compliance with UKAS requirements, company procedures and health & safety legislation.
  • Participate in internal quality assurance programmes, audits and proficiency testing.
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and laboratory safety.
  • Undertake continuing professional development and training as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • BOHS P401 qualification (essential).
  • A minimum of Twelve months' experience working within a UKAS-accredited asbestos laboratory.
  • A thorough understanding of asbestos bulk sample analysis and laboratory quality procedures.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Experience using TEAMS (desirable but not essential as full training will be provided).
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage and organise workloads effectively while working independently and as part of a team.
  • A commitment to maintaining professional standards and continuous professional development.

  • Competitive salary of £14.00 - £14.49 per hour (£14,560.00 - £15,069.60 per annum, pro rata), dependent upon experience and qualifications.
  • 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with working hours of either 9:00am–1:00pm or 1:00pm–5:00pm.
  • £4,000 joining bonus (pro rata) for qualified candidates who apply directly to Bradley Environmental Consultants and complete 12 months' continuous service.*
