Senior Special Education Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENCO)
About the Role
Are you an experienced SENCO looking for a rewarding part-time opportunity from September 2026? A respected early years school in Hammersmith is seeking a passionate SENCO to join its leadership team for 3 days per week. This is an exciting opportunity to champion inclusive education and help every child thrive here.
This maintained nursery school is renowned for delivering outstanding early years education in a nurturing and inclusive environment. Ideally you are a hands-on SENCO leader with a passion for inclusive education who can support the school’s efforts to enhance SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) provision. This role requires strong leadership skills along with hands-on experience ensuring every child receives the help they need to reach their full potential.

School Details
- Location: London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham
- Community Agenda: Highly diverse and vibrant neighbourhood with strong community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee SEND provision across the school while meeting all statutory requirements.
- Identify, assess, and monitor pupils with additional needs, implementing tailored support plans.
- Collaborate with teachers, parents, governors, and external professionals to achieve positive pupil outcomes.
- Provide training and coaching for staff to enhance inclusive teaching and learning.
- Maintain accurate SEND records, including coordinating Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).
- Act as a champion for inclusion, ensuring the school environment supports every child to achieve their potential.
Qualifications & Experience Required
- Essential:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a SENCO qualification (e.g., National Award for SENCO)
- Extensive experience as a SENCO or similar role (early years education is a strong advantage)
- In-depth knowledge of SEND provisions, pupil progress tracking, and requires of the SEND Code of Practice
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Certificate with the Update Service
- Full right to work in the UK
- Preferred Readings:
- Understanding of early-years SEN provision
- Experience working in nursery schools or primary settings

- Salary: Negotiable (dependent on experience)
