The culture is collaborative, ambitious, and people-focused, with a strong emphasis on development, flexibility, and long-term progression. Currently in a period of rapid growth, the firm is seeking a Head of Department to shape and lead the enfranchisement practice moving forward.
The Role
This is a Head of Department opportunity within the firm’s enfranchisement practice. As the leader, you will:
- Take ownership of a growing and high-quality caseload, ensuring robust case management and exceptional client outcomes.
- Lead the strategic development of the department, expanding the firm’s enfranchisement and related property litigation capabilities.

Key responsibilities include:
- Handling a mix of landlord and tenant enfranchisement matters, including:
- Tribunal applications under the 1993 Leasehold Reform Act
- Court attendance for cross-claims and defences
- Advising on procedural and substantive leasehold property issues
- Managing Right to Manage claims and service charge disputes as auxiliary areas of expertise.
- Overseeing a junior team, mentoring fee earners, and fostering growth.
- Driving business development to enhance caseloads and market reputation.
- Shaping long-term departmental strategy to align with the firm’s expansion goals.

The Candidate & Benefits
The firm is seeking a Partner/Head of Department/Legal Director with:
- 10+ years’ post-qualification experience (PQE) and a proven track record in leasehold enfranchisement.
- Technical mastery of 1993 Act enfranchisement, tribunal/litigation strategy, and related property matters.
- Experience mentoring junior fee earners, balancing individual supervision with bigger-horizon management.
- A commercially astute mindset with an interest in growing a department through strategic client relationships.
