EMPLOYMENT — SENIOR EMPLOYMENT LAWYER (PERMANENT PARTNER ROLE)

About the Role

We are seeking a senior employment lawyer for a highly strategic mandate as an immediate partner, elevating the successful candidate to a senior leadership position in their firm.

The role involves spearheading the London employment practice for a US-based firm, replacing a recently retired, well-respected senior employment partner—a position of significant responsibility and impact.

This is a permanent position with an expected workload of 1200 hours per annum, covering a broad scope of work—both contentious and non-contentious~—within the field of employment law.

As this is a crucial support role, the firm is principally assessing character, leadership qualities, and professional integrity, ensuring the new appointment carries the same standing and influence as their predecessor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and leading the London employment practice for the US firm, enhancing its coverage, stability, and strategic positioning.
  • Handling a varied caseload spanning contentious (litigation) and non-contentious matters, including mergers, compliance audits, policy drafting, and advice.
  • Surpassing 1200 billable hours per annum, reflecting a high expectation for commitment and consistency.
  • Collaborating with and supporting US partners, acting as the UK employment point person to bridge seamless communication.
  • Upholding the firm’s reputation for expertise, client relationships, and thought leadership in the sector.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
