Partnerships Development Manager
Business Development Manager (Intermediary) – North of England
Location: Manchester / Leeds (Hybrid) | (Salary: £50,000–£60,000 + Annual Bonus paid quarterly + Private Healthcare + Benefits) | Type: Full-Time, Permanent
About the Role
Are you a driven, commercially-minded sales professional with a passion for building lasting client and intermediary/broker relationships?
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a fast-growing, innovative business at the heart of the UK’s health and wellbeing market.
Based in the North of England (Manchester, Leeds, Sheffield, or the North East), you’ll:
- Take ownership of a defined territory
- Grow and manage a panel of intermediary and broker partners while also developing direct client relationships
- Be the face of the business in your region, trusted by partners to genuinely flourish
This role is home and field-based, requiring you to:
- Attend client meetings and industry events across the UK (including occasional overnight stays)
- Spend time in our London office – about twice monthly or as required
Key Responsibilities
New Business & Pipeline Development
- Identify, target, and onboard new intermediary and broker partners to build a high-performing distribution panel
- Develop and execute a personal sales strategy focused on sustainable, profitable growth
- Build and maintain a healthy pipeline, converting opportunities at a consistently strong rate
- Support seamless client onboarding (onsite and remote)
Relationship Management
- Build deep, trusted relationships with intermediaries at all levels
- Advisers
- Leadership teams
- Train, educate, and enable partners so they can confidently sell your products
- Run joint demo sessions and client pitches to drive conversion
- Develop "evangelists" in your partner network who actively champion your business
- Forge and grow direct relationships with:
- Corporate organisations
- Large businesses
- Government bodies

Market Intelligence & External Engagement
- Stay ahead of competitor activity, pricing, and product developments in the PMI and Employee Benefits markets
- Feed market insight to inform:
- Product strategy
- Pricing decisions
- Marketing campaigns
- Represent the business at:
- Industry conferences
- Networking events (across the entire UK, including travel to London and Scotland)
- Collaborate with marketing to amplify campaigns and generate leads through your network
Operational & Reporting Accountability
- Maintain a live, accurate pipeline in HubSpot (ensure every meeting, opportunity, and deal is logged)
- Provide regular updates to the Distribution Director on:
- Pipeline
- Forecasts
- Activity levels
- Self-manage your portfolio to deliver consistent commercial activity and output
About You
You’re a self-starter thriving in a field-based, autonomous role, where you treat your territory like your own business. You balance hunting for opportunities while nurturing real client connections.
Essential Requirements
- Proven success in B2B sales, preferably in intermediary/insurance broking, business development, partner relations, proposition management, growth roles, account management
- Experience in a self-directed, remote-first, or field-based role
- Strong verbal and written communication skills – capable of engaging from adviser to C-suite
- Commercial acumen with a deep understanding of:
- Pipeline management
- Revenue forecasting
- CRM proficient (HubSpot is preferred)
- Flexibility to travel across the UK, including:
- Scheduled London visits
- Overnight stays
- Events up to Scotland if required
- Self-discipline and resilience to manage a large, varied portfolio of stakeholders

Desirable
- Experience in:
- Health insurance
- Life insurance
- Protection (PMI)
- Employee benefits
- Financial services (regulatory experience is a plus)
- Established network of intermediaries in PMI or Employee Benefits
- Knowledge of FCA regulatory requirements
